Scanning Documents

InSched includes a multi-page scanning dialog for digitizing paper documents directly into a patient's chart using a TWAIN-compatible scanner.

Opening the Scanner

From the EMR Viewer, click Scan Document or press F4 to open the Multi Page Scan dialog.

Scanner Selection

Select your scanner from the Scanner dropdown at the top of the dialog. The list shows all TWAIN-compatible scanners detected on the workstation.

Image Quality

SettingDescription
DPI-XHorizontal resolution in dots per inch (default: 100)
DPI-YVertical resolution in dots per inch (default: 100)
ColorsColor depth (color, grayscale, black and white)

Higher DPI values produce sharper images but result in larger file sizes. For most documents, 150–200 DPI provides a good balance.

Acquire Frame

Check Show Acquire Frame to reveal frame settings. When Frame Enable is checked, you can define a specific scanning area in inches:

  • Top — Distance from the top edge
  • Left — Distance from the left edge
  • Right — Right boundary
  • Bottom — Bottom boundary

This is useful for scanning only a portion of a page.

Scanning Process

  1. Place your document(s) in the scanner
  2. Configure options as needed
  3. Click Negotiate Parameters to confirm scanner settings
  4. Click Acquire (F4) to begin scanning
  5. The progress bar shows scan progress
  6. Scanned pages appear as thumbnails in the left panel
