Snippets

Snippets are reusable text blocks that can be quickly inserted into chart notes. They save time when documenting common findings, procedures, or standard language.

Using Snippets

When composing a note in the Add Note editor, press F4 or click the Snippet button to open the snippet selector.

Selecting a Snippet

The Select Snippet dialog displays all available snippets in a grid:

ColumnDescription
Snippet NameThe name identifying the snippet
FormattedWhether the snippet contains rich-text formatting
DisplayTextA preview of the snippet content

Searching

Type in the search box at the top to filter snippets by name or content. The list updates as you type.

Inserting a Snippet

Select the desired snippet and click Use or press F3. The snippet content is inserted at the cursor position in the note editor. Formatted snippets retain their styling (bold, italic, fonts, etc.) when inserted.

Managing Snippets

Creating a New Snippet

  1. Open the snippet editor
  2. Click New or press F8
  3. Enter a Snippet Name — use a descriptive name that will be easy to search for
  4. Compose the snippet content in the rich-text editor
  5. Click Save or press F3

The snippet editor includes the same ribbon interface as the note editor, so you can format snippets with fonts, styles, lists, tables, and other rich-text features.

Editing a Snippet

Select an existing snippet in the grid and click Edit to modify its name or content.

Deleting a Snippet

Select a snippet and click Delete or press F5 to remove it.

Formatted vs. Plain Text Snippets

  • Formatted snippets preserve rich-text styling (fonts, bold, colors, tables). When inserted, they maintain their appearance.
  • Plain text snippets contain only unformatted text. They adopt the formatting of the surrounding content when inserted.

Best Practices

  • Use clear names — Name snippets so they are easy to find when searching (e.g., "Post-Op Instructions - Knee" rather than "Template 1")
  • Keep snippets modular — Create focused snippets for specific findings or instructions rather than one large template
  • Use formatting — Take advantage of rich-text formatting to create professional-looking documentation
  • Review periodically — Update snippet content as procedures or standard language change
