Navigating the Schedule

InSched provides extensive navigation options through both the mouse and keyboard. Learning the keyboard shortcuts can dramatically increase your efficiency.

The Scheduling Grid

The Scheduling Grid is the central display of the main InSched screen. Columns generally represent different dates (but can also represent different Resources or Locations depending on the view). Rows represent time slots.

Active Cell

At any time, one cell in the grid is the active cell, shown with a different tint. The Detail Panel on the left shows information about the events in the active cell.

  • Mouse: Single left-click to change the active cell
  • Keyboard: Use arrow keys, Page Up/Down, Home/End when the grid has focus

Viewing Event Details

There are several ways to see details about an event:

  • Move the active cell to the event and read the Detail Panel
  • Hover the mouse over an event to see a popup hint
  • Press Enter or double-click to open the Edit Appointment dialog

The Calendar

The Calendar in the upper left lets you choose any date. The selected date appears in the leftmost column of the Scheduling Grid.

Mouse Navigation

  • Click a date to navigate to it
  • Click the left/right arrows to change months
  • Click the month name for a menu of months
  • Click the year for a menu of years
  • Click "Today" at the bottom to jump to today
